Emi See

EMI SEE
pianist

Emi See is an American pianist who specializes in the performance of new music. Her recent research deals with the temporal aspects of post-tonal music, both phenomenologically and musicologically, and looks for moments of simultaneity as a moment for connection between herself, the audience, the space, and the music she performs. She has performed extensively in the U.S., U.K., Italy and Belgium as a soloist and ensemble pianist. In the 2021-2022 season, she made her debut as a soloist with Spectra ensemble in De Bijloke (BE), and will be performing Ligeti’s Piano Concerto in June.

Emi has participated in the masterclasses of Ursula Oppens, Hie-Yon Choi, Ralph van Raat, Thomas Rosenkranz, Kathryn Brown, Steven Osborne, Peter Takacs, and Daniel Shapiro.  In 2022-2023, Emi will be pursuing a Postgraduate Soloist Degree at Kask/Conservatorium (BE), where she also will hold a Master’s degree studying with Daan Vandewalle. She also holds a Bachelors of Music with First Degree Honors from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (UK) studying with Aaron Shorr and Sinae Lee, and is also an alumni of Idyllwild Arts Academy (US).
